Just a reminder that the Georgia Baptist History Depository is located in the Special Collections department on the third floor of the library. We have a vast collection of church and association records, Baptist convention minutes, and other items that document the history of Baptists in Georgia.
Georgia Baptists have preserved their history for a long time! From the Minutes of the New Sunbury Baptist Association, 1898:
"Bro. G. A. Blount called attention to the fact that the old Minutes of the Sunbury Association, back perhaps to 1818 had been preserved, bound in a volume and were in the custody of Bro. L. C. Tebeau, former clerk of this association. By motion duly passed, the Clerk was instructed to call on Bro. Tebeau and request him to turn over such old records and minutes as may be in his possession, to be kept as the archives of this Association."
We still collect such things today. Let us know if we can help you with church history research!
